A promising footballer with local club Brighton, Lauren had just had trials with Chelsea when, aged 13, she fell from a tree and broke her spine. Told she would never walk again, Lauren took up wheelchair tennis and went onto become junior number one.
Now on the professional circuit, she was hoping to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics before Coronavirus postponed that for a year. She signed with Castore earlier this year and was thrilled to see Rangers join forces with Castore soon afterwards, given her own connections with the club.
A Reading fan, when Lauren suffered her accident in 2009, the Royals' captain was Gers' Head Development Squad coach Graeme Murty, who visited Lauren in hospital and developed a long-term friendship with her and her family.
Through that friendship, she planned to visit both the Rangers Academy and Ibrox, again before Coronavirus put pay to her plans, although she is still hopeful of coming to Glasgow when the advice allows.
