The big defender rose at the back post midway through the second half to bullet home a Borna Barisic corner for the Light Blues to secure all three points against their rivals.
Helander also took time to praise the togetherness around the club, and continued: "The emotions are incredible, and the noise afterwards is something I will never forget and we got an important win and it could not be better.
"We have had a tough week and not the best performance in Armenia, and there were a lot of people missing for the game, and I think it was a big victory for us and we showed togetherness, that we are a team and everyone is fighting for each other.
"Everyone around the club that has been supporting us in this week, it is just a perfect end to the week.
"I was going towards the back post and the ball was perfect and I just tried to hit the target and it went in, and it was amazing.
"I don't score a lot of goals, so I never really think about scoring goals, and when you do, you just lose control for a while!"
Helander also lauded the impact of Robby McCrorie making his league debut in goal for the Light Blues, adding: "He has been handling it well. I don't think there has been anything in particular that we have been talking to him about.
"Of course, we have tried to talk to him about how we should defend but he has been handling it really well and he has been training with us for a long time and has been at the club for a very long time, so he knows what it is all about and, of course, it is special when it is your first Old Firm and I am very happy for everyone, but maybe especially for him."
