Reaction: Tony Weston On Albion Rovers Test

TONY Weston hopes Rangers can build on last night’s friendly victory over Albion Rovers as the B Team ramp up their preparations ahead of the Lowland League season.

Weston was on target alongside Alex Lowry and Arron Lyall as David McCallum’s side won 3-1 at Rangers Training Centre.

The 17-year-old spoke to RangersTV after the match to give his thoughts on the game, he said: “It was a good confidence booster for us getting the win because we didn't get the result we wanted in the last game so it is good to get the win and hopefully we can build on that in the next game.

“I thought the boys played well after the first part of the game, we took a bit to get started but we moved the ball well and I think we should've taken a few more chances here and there.

“It is just more experience and more minutes under our belts for what is coming next because it is not long until the league starts so it is a good learning curve.”

With the Light Blues set to kick-off the Lowland League season against Bo’ness in less than two weeks, Weston says he feels good ahead of the start of the campaign.

He continued: “I have done a lot of work back home so I have come back fit and strong and I am just raring to go and play more games.

“All the lads are buzzing for the start of the league, it is more real than any other league we have been in, especially for me because I've only been here for a year so it is going to be a big challenge for us and we hope to push on.”
