Goldson told RangersTV tonight: "We feel ready. It has been a good pre-season with four good games and we have done well.
"We know the real test starts next week, and we have another week of training to get ourselves as ready as possible for Aberdeen on Saturday."
Filip Helander made his return to action after five months out today, while Leon Balogan was signed yesterday – both adding more competition to the centre of defence.
Goldson believes that can drive him even more, and he continued: "Definitely. I've said previously that it makes us all have to fight for our shirt and perform week-in, week-out.
"But the gaffer has acted and brought in a centre-half with good pedigree to drive us on to perform week-in, week-out."
Behind Goldson, he has also impressed by what Jon McLaughlin has brought to the squad, adding: "He has been really good. We all know what Greegs is about as in the two years, he has been brilliant.
"But Jon has come in and has settled-in right away. He's been really good around the place, really positive and I think he did really well in the two games he stated."
In these closed-door games, Goldson’s leadership qualities can be heard with the way he distributes orders and encouragement to his teammates.
"It is important,” he said on that. “I feel like we are a team that relies on the fans, and without that, we have to drive each other on and we have to demand from each other even more.
"We haven't got that help and drive from the fans, so I try to be as loud as I can and help my teammates as much as possible, and we just have to keep driving the standards to make sure we perform week-in, week-out."
Goldson also grabbed a goal in today’s win – and he paid tribute to technical coach Tom Culshaw for the work he puts in on set-pieces behind the scenes.
He explained: "He does, and we work on it every week. We have meetings on it and rehearse them on the training ground.
"One came off today for me today, and I was glad to get a goal to help the team win. But I am sure he will be working on even more for the real games next week."
