The January recruit struck in emphatic fashion with six minutes remaining, curling beyond Lee Gibson from distance, as she cancelled out Laura Rafferty's early own goal in what was an impressive away performance from the Gers against the league leaders.
Leanne Crichton named two changes to her side for the trip to Petershill, welcoming Quinty Sabajo and Calliste Brookshire into the starting lineup from last weekend’s win over Hibernian.
Rangers were on the front foot straight from the off and perhaps should have broke the deadlock inside three minutes when Calliste Brookshire pounced on an underhit backpass but could only steer her finish straight at the onrushing Lee Gibson.
The away side looked in the mood in the opening exchanges, underlined 10 minutes later when Katie Wilkinson brought down a goal-kick from Jenna Fife, combined with Laura Berry who fed Eilidh Austin in-behind before the full-back’s effort from an acute angle was thwarted comfortably by Gibson.
However, City struck against the run of play just 60 seconds later when Emily Whelan pinched possession midway inside her own half before surging forward and feeding Lisa Forrest to her right.
The winger didn’t have much to aim for inside the penalty area, but her hopeful low delivery took a cruel deflection off Rafferty and wrong-footed Fife to open the scoring in Petershill.
The Gers didn’t appear perturbed by the concession of the opener, with Brookshire looking particularly bright as the January recruit fired a wicked delivery across the face of goal which a combination of Wilkinson and Austin couldn’t convert.
Dancing feet from Laura Berry inside the danger area almost engineered the leveller, but Gibson produced an impressive stop to deny the Scotland youth international on her left-hand side.
All that was missing from the Rangers’ display – besides going behind in the scoreline – was a goal to match their endeavours.
Indeed, the ball was in the City net on the stroke of the half-time interval when Berry slotted home from Wilkinson’s clever reverse pass, but the linesman swiftly raised his offside flag to curb the Gers celebrations.
The duo combined to open the second period, this time Wilkinson was the beneficiary as she swivelled smartly but could only send her effort straight down the throat of Gibson.
Brookshire’s individual display was certainly something for Rangers to hang their hats on, with the winger prompting a booking for Chloe Warrington when the City full-back pulled her shirt in the process of breaking forward.
Berry tried her best on the acrobatics when Austin nodded the ball into her path from a Kim Shin Ji corner, but it was always going to take something special to beat Gibson in the hosts’ goal.
The lively Austin was a commanding presence on the right-hand side for the away side as she linked with Wilkinson and had her delivery blocked at the near post in search of an equaliser.
With 21 minutes remaining Berry was denied what looked a certain leveller when Shin Ji’s cross fell invitingly to Berry, but Gibson pushed a strong right arm up to tip the forward’s effort over the top in impressive fashion.
The City goalkeeper was the difference between winning and losing for the hosts, although she was untroubled when Wilkinson nodded wide from the edge of the penalty area from a Nicola Docherty cross.
And the leveller arrived with six minutes remaining as Brookshire showed impressive persistence on the left-hand side from Wilkinson's crossfield pass, picking out the far corner with a sumptous curling effort to secure a well-deserved point for the away side.
