Opening the scoring with three minutes on the clock, the Light Blues were relentless as they headed in at half-time with an eight goal advantage thanks to a hat-trick from Colette Cavanagh and goals from Nicola Docherty, Kathryn Hill, Kirsty Howat and a double from Lizzie Arnot.
Docherty and Lisa Martinez added to that tally in the second-half as the Light Blues picked-up three points on the road.
Malky Thomson named nine changes to his side from last weekend’s Old Firm derby with Jenna Fife, Kathryn Hill, Colette Cavanagh, Lizzie Arnot, Kirsty Maclean, Jodi McLeary, Maddie Nolf, Emma Watson and Kirsty Howat all coming into the starting XI.
That meant Rangers lined-up at Alliance Park with Jenna Fife in goal and a back four of Nicola Docherty, Kathryn Hill, Hannah Davison and Maddie Nolf.
Colette Cavanagh, Emma Watson and Kirsty Maclean were in midfield, with Lizzie Arnot and Jodi McLeary supporting striker Kirsty Howat.
It was a strong start from the Gers as they looked to take control of the match from the first whistle. With only three minutes on the clock, Rangers were ahead as Nicola Docherty picked up the ball high in Glasgow Women’s half. The left-back struck the ball across goal in search of Jodi McLeary at the back post but the ball snuck in beyond Reeve to give Rangers the early lead.
The Gers were having success down the left early on, and almost had a second as Lizzie Arnot picked out Colette Cavanagh inside the box. She released a powerful strike at goal, but Reeve got a strong connection on the ball to block the shot.
In eight minutes, Rangers doubled their advantage. Arnot found space again to drive towards goal with Reeve coming off her line to stop the attack but the goalkeeper didn’t get a strong enough connection on the ball as it broke for the Rangers forward who rounded the keeper to guide the ball into the back of the net.
It was an impressive start from Rangers, who were 3-0 up just a few minutes later with a fantastic team move. The ball started with centre-back Kathryn Hill who fed in Maddie Nolf down the right flank. The American laid the ball off to Emma Watson who picked out Colette Cavanagh and struck beyond Reeve.
Gers were relentless and had a four goal advantage inside the opening 15 minutes. Maddie Nolf played a good ball into Colette Cavanagh and she fired a powerful shot beyond Reeve for her second of the afternoon.
Rangers were forced into an early change as Maddie Nolf had to come off through injury midway through the first-half, with Rachel McLauchlan coming on in her place.
From a corner, Gers increased their advantage further as Lizzie Arnot whipped a dangerous ball into the box. Captain Kathryn Hill, on her return from injury, got a strong connection to head beyond Reeve.
Arnot got her second of the game with 10 minutes of the first-half remaining as she got on the end of a lovely ball from the right from Rachel McLauchlan to head home at the back post.
It was 7-0 late in the first-half as Arnot found Colette Cavanagh in space in the box. Cavanagh was on a hat-trick but her shot was blocked by Reeve, however Kirsty Howat was alert to the rebound to get herself on the scoresheet this afternoon.
Cavanagh didn’t have long to wait for her hat-trick as just moments later she struck a superb free-kick towards goal which curled in at the far post for her third of the afternoon.
Rangers made one change at the break as Lisa Martinez was introduced in place of Hannah Davison at centre-back.
Malky Thomson’s side started the second-half as they ended the first and were straight on the attack as they looked to add to the scoring. Lizzie Arnot found Kirsty Howat in the box but her close-range effort came off the post before being cleared from the line by Hannah Cunningham.
Kirsty Maclean had a shot saved by Reeve shortly after, before Howat’s curling effort was held by the Glasgow Women goalkeeper.
A further two changes followed for Rangers with 65 minutes played as Jenny Danielsson and Megan Bell were introduced in place of Colette Cavanagh and Emma Watson.
For Bell, it was her first minutes of the season following an injury which has kept her sidelined since May.
With 70 minutes on the clock, it was 9-0 to Rangers and it was a fantastic strike from left-back Nicola Docherty. The Scotland international had space to shoot outside the box and fired high into the top corner for her second goal of the afternoon.
Dina Orschmann was next to be introduced as she replaced Jodi McLeary for the final period of the match.
Jenny Danielsson came close to getting on the scoresheet as she hit the post with a strike from inside the box before the ball was gathered by Reeve.
Rangers hit double digits in the final minutes of the game as half-time substitute Lisa Martinez made it 10. A short corner was played to Megan Bell, who delivered the ball into the box, which was picked up by Jenny Danielsson on the opposite side of the area.
Danielsson returned the ball into the danger area and with centre-back Martinez still in an advanced position she managed to get a foot on the ball to send a low strike beyond Reeve.
Rangers now turn attention to the Sky Sports Cup final at Tynecastle next Sunday.
