It was the perfect tonic for the Gers after last weekend’s defeat in the capital as they were propelled by another remarkable goalscoring showing from Katie Wilkinson who netted five times.
Indeed, the Gers led by seven at the half-time interval as Wilkinson’s contribution was supplemented by goals from Quinty Sabajo, Laura Berry, Kim Shin Ji and Mia McAulay.
Wilkinson then added her fourth and fifth after the interval, bookending Berry’s brace and a first professional goal, scored in fine fashion, from Alice Griffiths to put the ribbons on a ruthless display.
Crichton named five changes to her side for the visit of the Lanarkshire outfit, handing a first league start to Telma Ivarsdottir between the posts.
Among the introductions to the starting lineup was a first league start for Sabajo who arrived as a free agent in the summer, and she wasted precious little time in making her mark.
A low delivery from McAulay just three minutes into the contest was cleared only as far as the midfielder who dispatched confidently on the side foot beyond Erin Halliday to begin the scoring.
Rangers were certainly in the mood as they doubled their advantage six minutes later when the prolific Wilkinson worked a fantastic angle just inside the penalty area and curled a sumptuous finish into the top corner.
The visitors were still licking their wounds just two minutes later when the Gers added a third. Eilidh Austin was the architect on this occasion as her delivery was volleyed towards goal at the near post by Wilkinson, with Berry reacting first to the rebound to bundle the ball over the goalline.
Respite was few and far between for Accies as, after Sabajo was denied from close-range, a fourth of a relentless opening period was added when McAulay picked up the ball in space and rifled a left-footed effort in off the post from 25 yards out.
Despite the pouring rain in Govan the home side were certainly giving the crowd inside Ibrox their money’s worth as another goal arrived on 25 minutes. This time, McAulay turned provider as her floated delivery from a corner was glanced into the bottom corner by Wilkinson.
The scoring relented briefly as Sabajo shot over from distance after a neat swivel before Wilkinson was initially denied a first-half hat-trick by the offside flag.
However, the forward wasn’t to be thwarted five minutes before the interval as she turned home from Austin’s low cross to add a sixth of a rampant opening 45 minutes for Crichton’s charges.
There was still time before referee Lorraine Watson blew her whistle for half-time for the hosts to add to their goals tally. It was perhaps the pick of the bunch from a team perspective as an intricate move on the edge of the danger area allowed the impressive Sabajo to release Shin Ji in-behind who slid a neat finish under Halliday and into the bottom corner.
Only a minute had elapsed in the second period when the Gers, having made a triple substitution at the break, netted for an eighth time in the afternoon.
It was swift play down the right which allowed Sabajo to lift her head and float a dangerous cross into the penalty area where Wilkinson stood to nod beyond Halliday once again.
Hamilton appeared content to limit the damage as the second half wore on; Austin coming close to getting in on the act when she jinked through a succession of challenges and struck an effort against Hannah Coakley.
A ninth goal was added just minutes later when substitute Lizzie Arnot lifted a cross-cum-shot towards goal where Berry lurked with intent to hammer home at the near post after Halliday could only push the ball out as far as the teenage forward.
The scoreline read double digits with a quarter of an hour remaining as Griffiths marked a special moment in her career with a first professional goal when she rifled an unstoppable finish into the top corner from 25 yards out.
And the scoring was capped off in emphatic fashion when Wilkinson grabbed her fifth of the day after displaying lovely footwork midway inside the Hamilton half and slamming home from long-range.
