Two late goals from Ianis Hagi were the difference for Gers B, who turned the game back on its head after the Terriers cancelled out Findlay Curtis’ opener.
It was a much improved second half display from Rangers, with plenty of energy and quality injected by the substitutes.
Indeed, it was a predominantly young Gers squad for the visit of the English outfit, with Hagi the notable exception in an advanced midfield role.
And the Light Blues were on the front foot from the outset as Curtis lashed a dangerous effort goalwards which was denied by Oliver Riva.
Alfie Halliwell was called into action moments later when Luke Daley sprung the offside trap and forced a smart stop from the 17-year-old down to his left.
Rangers then broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark thanks to a moment of quality.
Zander Hutton collected the ball on the right-hand side, feeding a pass infield to Hagi who lifted his head and picked out Curtis haring in on the edge of the penalty area.
With venom behind his effort, the 18-year-old midfielder lashed an unstoppable strike beyond the Huddersfield goalkeeper.
However, the game was turned on its head before the half-time interval when, firstly, Peter Thomas headed home from point-blank range after a soft free-kick concession from the Light Blues.
A cheap turnover of possession from the home side then led to a quickfire second as Tom Iorpenda arrived late in the danger area and stroked a calm finish into the bottom corner.
The Light Blues emerged for the second half with a renewed purpose; Kerr Robertson firing over from 30 yards out in a statement of intent.
Archie Stevens then tested his luck after weaving his way infield from the right-hand side, although the teenager’s effort lacked the required purchase.
Rangers continued to ring the changes in an attempt to muster a route back into the game, with Josh Gentles and Paul Nsio combining to good effect which was thwarted by the Huddersfield rearguard.
The home side were rewarded for their persistence with ten minutes when a moment of set-piece quality from Hagi saw the Romanian dip a 30-yard free-kick into the bottom corner.
The game was perfectly poised as a result, with Kristian Webster nodding onto the roof of the net from a deep inswinging corner.
And with just seconds remaining of the contest, Hagi completed the turnaround for Gers B when he collected a pass from Blaine McClure, dropped his shoulder, and curled a left-footed finish into the bottom of the corner.
