The young Gers took an early lead when Ross McCausland finished from close range, although they were pegged back before the interval by the Seasiders.
Arron Lyall restored the hosts’ advantage shortly into the second period, before goals from Josh McPake and substitute Paul Nsio put the scoreline beyond doubt despite a late consolation from the away side.
David McCallum made five changes to his Rangers B side from the team which faced Manchester City at the weekend, naming a youthful lineup for the visit of English opposition.
A lovely team move from the home side cut their opponents open, allowing Josh McPake to lift the ball over the goalkeeper before Blackpool were able to recover and clear the danger.
The young Gers then opened the scoring less than 60 seconds later. Fraser, a late replacement for Jamie Newton in the team, drilled a delicious delivery across the face of goal which Arron Lyall latched onto at the far post. The midfielder’s effort at full stretch was clawed off the line by the goalkeeper, with the ball falling invitingly back to Fraser who centred for McCausland to finish with his left foot.
However, Blackpool restored parity five minutes later as Donovan Lescott headed home from close-range after a cross from the right-hand side.
Fraser was continuing to trouble the Seasiders’ backline with his positioning on the left. This time, he picked out Mackenzie Strachan with a pinpoint cut-back, although the midfielder could only steer his first-time finish off target.
The visitors continued to carry an attacking threat of their own, prompting Mason Munn into action when Alex Lankshear headed towards goal from close range.
The Light Blues were almost rewarded for their patience on the half-hour mark when they pinned Blackpool deep into their defensive third. The ball worked its way to McPake from 25 yards out, although the forward’s driven effort whizzed agonisingly wide of the post.
Dannen Francis was denied by an impressive stop from Munn on 32 minutes, before the young Gers almost restored their advantage from a free-kick. Bailey Rice’s delivery from the left was met by McPake whose glancing header trickled wide of the far post.
Rangers emerged from the interval with a renewed vigour, restoring their advantage just five minutes into the second period. The home side were patient once again in their build-up, allowing Lyall to pick up possession unchecked 25 yards from goal. The 19-year-old lifted his head before arrowing a powerful effort which was tipped onto the inside of the post from the Blackpool goalkeeper and over the line.
McCausland looked to stretch his side’s advantage just moments later when he skipped dangerously inside off the right-hand side, firing over the crossbar after space had opened up for the Northern Irishman.
The third goal of the afternoon then arrived for the young Gers before the clock ticked over the hour-mark. A clever short corner routine found McPake in space on the corner of the penalty area, with the forward taking aim at goal and planting his finish smartly into the bottom near corner.
The away side could have reduced the arrears on the 70th minute mark when they broke the Gers defensive ranks on the counter-attack, but Munn was on hand to deny the danger and keep the scoreline intact.
The Light Blues capitalised down the opposite end, adding their fourth goal of the contest when Connor Young teed up Paul Nsio who guided a terrific finish into the top corner from just inside the penalty area.
Blackpool pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining when slack play in the Rangers defensive third left Zak Emmerson with the simplest of tasks of finishing from close range.
Rangers looked to re-establish their control in the closing stages, going close through McCausland with the last kick of the ball before the referee drew the game to a close.
Next up for the Light Blues is a return to SPFL Trust Trophy action with a trip to face Stenhousemuir next Tuesday evening.
