ROBIN PROPPER says Rangers fed off an electric Ibrox atmosphere this afternoon after netting his first goal for the club in the side’s 3-0 Old Firm triumph.
The 31-year-old grabbed the all-important second goal of the contest for the Light Blues, slamming home from close-range to double his side’s advantage in the second period.
It was a fitting reward for a composed performance from the Dutch defender, who celebrated a clean sheet among a makeshift backline in which Ridvan operated effectively as a right full-back.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Propper praised the backing from the Rangers supporters: “It was quite good and we’re really happy with it. I was really happy with the game.
“We played very well and the stadium went absolutely crazy.
“It was really nice to be on pitch. At 3-0, I was looking around slightly for the first time to the experience it really well.
“There was a great noise and support, and it was nice to be in the stadium today.”
Rangers were rampant from the get-go, breaking the deadlock inside six minutes through an irresistible long-range Ianis Hagi strike.
Propper was next to notch his name onto the scoresheet, which marked his first in Rangers colours, before Danilo rounded off the scoring nine minutes from time.
He added: “We worked on [my goal] yesterday in training and we said ‘okay, maybe I can get one-versus-one in the back zone’, so you hope for a ball there.
“In the end Nico [Raskin] headed it first and it came right to my feet. You then have to be sure it goes in the goal and luckily it did, so it was a really nice feeling.
“We defended and attacked together, and we had a great block in the middle.
“We won a lot of balls where they played wrong and we were on top of it. That was the most important thing.
“It’s always good [to get a clean sheet] as a defender in a game like this. We defended well and we done it together, so it was really nice.”
