Two headed goals from first half corners by Emmanuel Fernandez and Nico Raskin set the Light Blues on their way as they continued their positive league momentum by producing a fourth win in a row by beating Aberdeen.
Speaking to RangersTV to reflect on tonight’s triumph at Ibrox, he commented: “I am very pleased, very proud of the group at the moment and what they are doing every three days, it is outstanding.
“I think you felt that at the end of the game we were really tired, we felt this on the pitch and off it.
“Not easy to play, not easy to take points. I am very proud of the group; we stepped up and did our job.
“We played in some minutes of the game really nice football but also they are some things that we have to improve and again also set play goals.
“Scott [Fry] is doing a fantastic job; I am proud of my group at the moment.
“Set pieces? It is a big belief as well in this. I think against Celtic we scored after transition moments, good counter pressing and pressing moments.
“A top team in the league this was my feeling but it is always about effort and this was also the message at half time.
“I want to see a clean sheet mentality from my group, if you do this then you win this game 2-0, at the end we did and it is now really about recovering in the next few days and then we have to go again.
“It is a difficult place to go there and we have to be ready again.”
The German gave an update on his players having had to manage their minutes during a busy stretch of games, with Mikey Moore brought off at the break and Mohamed Diomande forced off with 20 minutes to go.
He continued: “Mikey felt a little bit in the muscle at half time. For me Thelo [Aasgaard] made a fantastic second half, good reaction and good game from him.
“Dio had problems with the stomach, it was not possible to continue. John [Souttar] and Dujon [Sterling] they had job sharing.
“We spoke about this before the game after a lot of games and minutes I have to protect them as well.
“Youssef [Chermiti] was completely empty, you felt this it was hard for him up front to always press and do this.
“A lot of players put so much in the last couple of days, they now need a rest and this is key.”
The Head Coach commended his side for the strides they have made since his arrival, but insists their full attention in just on their next fixture as they now prepare for the reverse fixture at Pittodrie this weekend.
He added: “I am proud and happy to see this but it is about the next game.
“We have to take a lot of self-confidence from the last couple of weeks but I will not allow that we dream for something more.
“It is about the next game; it is a long journey if we do our homework like we did in the last couple of weeks we are on a fantastic way but at the moment it is too early to speak about anything else other than the next game.”
