The Light Blues will host their neighbours in the second derby meeting in a week in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox, off the back of the team’s sharing the spoils in league action last Sunday lunchtime.
Speaking to the media in the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s last eight clash in Govan, the full-back said: “Mentality in squad to win competition? Yes I think so, we have a great squad with great players. The mentality is there to win this game.
“It is an opportunity to put this right and of course we were very disappointed and the two days after we still were.
“You have to change this to a motivation to go on Sunday again to win this game.
“It is do or die game but I think every game is a do or die game in the cup.
“If you lose you're out if you win you go through, especially if you play Celtic it is a little bit different because of the rivalry.
“It is the biggest cup game I would have played in.”
The Belgium defender says the team must take learnings from their recent Scottish Premiership meeting, in which the Gers dominated in the opening 45 minutes racing in to a two-goal lead before the visitors fought back to claim a point.
He continued: “It was really a disappointment but we analysed the whole game and I think in the first half we played a near perfect game.
“The second half we had some things that were not good, we have to combine these two things to go on Sunday again.
“We need to be positive; if you only look at the bad things it will not help you on Sunday.
“If you look at the good things and you want to improve the bad things I think this is the best thing to do.
“We focused on both things; it is important to take the good things into the next game and improve the bad things.
“You have to combine both to win on Sunday.”
The 22-year-old January recruit got his first taste of the derby last weekend, as he spoke of the importance of the fans in such a fixture and his recent positive linkups down the left flank with teammate Mikey Moore.
He added: “In Belgium there is only one game in Scotland that they broadcast and it is the Old Firm.
“I watched it a couple of times and it was impressive and it didn't disappoint on Sunday.
“Mikey is a great player to play with; he always wants the ball so it is not difficult to play with him.
“It is a big club and I know that. The fans are very demanding and everybody here is demanding.
“You want to win; everybody wants to win. This is a different kind of winners mentality that you need to have here.
“When the fans are behind us it really gives us a boost.
“They done a great job at the weekend I am sure they will do on Sunday again, if we have this behind then we will go for it for sure.”
