The Northern Irishman has seen his minutes limited in recent months but is hopeful of involvement in what remains in the second half of the campaign.
Speaking to the media in this afternoon’s press conference ahead of the fourth round tie, he commented: “I think it is an opportunity for many of the boys including myself to go and show that we are ready to fight for the rest of the season.
“It will be good; it is the type of game that comes around not so often for boys to get a chance to get minutes and stuff like that so we are really looking forward to it.
“Of course I think it is clear to see I haven't been playing or really getting minutes and that is something that is frustrating but I am working hard every day and I am trying to battle for a place in the team every week.
“If selected it is an opportunity for myself to go out and show that I am ready and that I am back to full fitness from my injury, I am really looking forward to it.”
The 21-year-old says there is a real motivation for the squad to get their hands on the trophy this season, but knows they have to approach this weekend’s clash against the Highland League side professionally.
He continued: “We want to win this cup for sure, it would be amazing to win it this year.
“It is definitely something that we plan to do.
“Some games you see a lot of upsets, but I think going into this game it is all about mentality and just playing our own football and trying to play the way we have been playing every week.
“We won't prep for this game no different than what we prepped for the Aberdeen game.
“I think it is just keeping our heads on the straight and narrow and taking it as a normal game.”
In what has been a testing time for the player he insists he has kept working hard and been patient in waiting for his chance, but has praised the impact of fellow winger Vaclav Cerny for his form this campaign and the influence he has had on his development.
He added: “Keeping myself motivated? I think as a footballer you need to, there are going to be periods in your career where you are not going to play.
“I am not playing as much as I would like but Vaclav who is playing in my position has been incredible for us for a number of months.
“He is very good with me; he helps me in training and stuff like that and just getting to watch him every week.
“Some of the stuff he does is incredible and even listening to the stories of where he has been previous in his career is incredible, at international level as well.
“Just to be able to learn from a guy like that is amazing.
“Main thing I have learned from him? I think probably the main thing is he plays on the right and his strong foot is his left foot and for me that is a bit different because my weak foot is my left foot.
“Probably I would naturally come in on my left which is strange because I am right footed but coming in he has got really good at going down the right and the left like he is both footed.
“I think adding that to my game and not sort of having that skill where everybody knows what you are going to do, having that bit of variety to your game.
“I think in that sense I can learn from him.”
