Gers return to Ibrox for the tie, and the head coach knows how important it is for his side to ensure their place in November’s semi-final at Hampden.
Speaking to the media at this morning’s pre-match press conference, he said: “For us as a group it is really important to win the game, we have a chance to be in the semi-final and it gives us a chance to really achieve winning some silverware which is what we are here for.
“It gives us a chance to put on a performance on the pitch that we actually like, that wins us the game and that we can build on. I want to see a team that plays with intensity and togetherness.”
On what a result could do for the squad after a difficult period, Martin continued: “I think it is an amazing opportunity for us to come through this period as a squad, to grow through it and to be so strong from it, and hopefully at that point everyone will come together, we just need to win football matches.
“The people inside the building I feel incredibly well supported, the players, the staff, ownership and as long as that continues then it'll be fine.
“We just have to work, and actually stick to the work. We have always been better early on in the second half in games so far because we take a breath, we sit back and we watch a few clips of the game and then remind the guys what we worked on.
“We have to start that way, we have to start with the conviction and courage to do what we want to do and be the team we want to be, and I believe we'll get there.”
Martin confirmed Nico Raskin will return to the matchday squad tomorrow, adding: “He has trained really well this week. I think even in that situation, maybe it is a necessary thing for this group to improve, to understand what is really important.
“I think it will be a really important period for Nico and his growth as a human being and a player, and I think it'll be good for me in the long term as well to really learn from it. He is in a good place, he is back in the squad, and I am looking forward to having him back in.”
