The Gers shot stopper saved Daniel Cummings’ spot-kick before seeing Lewis Dobbie fire wide to hand Stevie Smith’s side the victory after it finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.
McGuire was delighted to have played his part and says it tops off an exciting few weeks which has included travelling with the first-team to the Europa League quarter-final clash with Athletic Bilbao.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “I am over the moon, games like this are easy to get up for.
“In finals, you don’t have to play your best, it is about getting over the line, that’s all that matters.
“Rangers are known for winning trophies so it is a great experience.
“Fair play to the players who put their penalties away, it takes character to do that, so thanks to the analysis team and goalie coach for looking at their penalties.
“As a goalie, it is your time to be a hero and deliver for the team.
“It is a dream for every Rangers fan to train with the first-team, it has been good and there is no better place to work.”
Nana Kasanwirjo fired the Light Blues in front before Rhys Dargie levelled on the stroke of half-time.
McGuire admits it was disappointing to lose a goal on the stroke of half-time but says gaffer Smith inspired them to cup glory.
He added: “Stevie knows how to calm us down and let us believe in ourselves.
“We probably didn’t play the way we wanted to, we went in at half-time at 1-1 when we probably should have been winning 1-0.
“But it goes like that sometimes in football. In the second half, they probably had the majority of the ball and we soaked it up a little bit.
“At the end of the day, we are delighted with the win.”
