The striker, who joined the Gers in the summer of 2023 from London City Lionesses, will extend her stay in Glasgow after overcoming various injury setbacks to return to full fitness towards the end of last season.
Having featured for several clubs in Scottish football prior to her move down south, the 34-year-old was brought back north of the border by then Head Coach Jo Potter in her first season in charge. The forward featured on 30 occasions, scoring eight times as well as providing three assists for her teammates in 12 starts.
She contributed in the forward areas to help the Gers achieve a cup double, successfully defending the Sky Sports Cup with a 4-1 win over Partick Thistle at Tynecastle, before they claimed the Scottish Cup for the first time in their history with a win over Hearts at Hampden Park.
Her form was rewarded with a second ever Scotland call-up following the season-ending back in June 2024, but she unfortunately suffered a serious ankle injury during training with her national team, ruling her out for several months at the beginning of the 24/25 season.
She made her return in a Scottish Cup third round match in December that year, scoring twice off the bench in a win over Westdyke which turned out to be her only appearance of the campaign, as she suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury which ruled her out for the rest of that season.
The setback saw her battle back to fitness for almost the entirety of the last campaign, although she made a return to training towards the final months as she now looks for a fresh start during pre-season with both their SPWPL and UWCL matches getting underway in August.
Speaking after signing an extension with the club, Ewens said: “I am delighted to be staying at the club.
“I know there is competition for places, but that is what you want at a club of this size, but I am hoping to have a big impact on the team going forward.”
Women’s Head Coach Leanne Crichton added: “Sarah has had a tough time recently with injuries; however, I believe she still has a lot to offer Rangers.
“At Rangers you need competition for places and Sarah, along with Wilko and Laura Berry, provides us with different strengths and gives us options in the attacking third.
“I look forward to seeing Sarah back on the training pitch and showing everyone what she can do.”
Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director Donald Gillies also said: “More than anything, I am delighted that Sarah is fit and healthy again.
“It would be foolish for any club not to want a fit Sarah Ewens, and although time just ran out on her this season, I know she is determined to get back to scoring goals and showing everyone how good a player she is, and we are looking forward to her doing that for us next season.”
