The striker, who joined the Gers in the summer of 2023 from London City Lionesses, featured on 30 occasions for Jo Potter’s side in her first season back in Scottish football.
She scored on eight occasions as well as providing three assists for her teammates in 12 starts, helping Jo Potter’s team to a domestic cup double as they won the Sky Sports Cup and Scottish Cup.
Unfortunately, her minutes during the 2024/25 season were limited due to injury, firstly suffering a serious ankle injury whilst on Scotland duty prior to pre-season starting before she made her return in a Scottish Cup fixture against Westdyke in December, scoring twice off the bench.
However, that was to be her only appearance of the campaign as at the end of January a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury was to follow which meant the forward was to miss the remainder of the season as she suffered another setback.
She will now be part of Jo Potter’s side for the next campaign, as she continues to work hard during her rehab and will be hopeful of a return to the pitch later in the year.
Speaking after agreeing a new deal, Ewens said: “I feel good about staying, obviously this season has been very difficult.
“Mentally it has challenged me quite a lot and not being able to be a part of the team and on the pitch it has been really frustrating and it is hard not to be able to help the team.
“To stay another year I am still going through my rehab right now but I am to get back and hopefully next season I can have a bit contribution on the pitch.
“The club have been great for me and they got this one quite quickly so I didn't have to worry about it and it means a lot that they have looked after me during this rehab as well as my last one so I am definitely happy to be here.”
Women’s head coach, Jo Potter, said: “Unfortunately Sarah has had a very tough time over the past season with injuries; however she has shown her qualities on the pitch during my time here and she has a big part to play next season when she makes her recovery.”
Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director Donald Gillies also said: “It is always difficult to hear of players’ injuries, whether it is with this club or another, but to lose a player of Sarahs quality for what was effectively the whole of the 24/25 season was particularly hard.
“The way she has persevered and demonstrated a level of determination to return to fitness has been exceptional. We are looking forward to seeing her back on the pitch later in the year.”
