Gers came back from a goal down to level through Alfredo Morelos’ strike, and Wright, who performed well from the bench in the second half, was thrilled with the mental fortitude shown by both Gers and Morelos to ensure they remain unbeaten in the league going into the split.
Wright said: "We know they are a good team, and although I thought we started the game well, we found ourselves a goal down.
"It is a great show of the boys' mentality this year that they still have the confidence to get on the ball and play and eventually we got a goal which I think we deserved.
"Then it was a case of trying to win the ball and push for another.
"Everybody is buzzing for [Alfredo]. He has a great mentality and as a striker, he obviously wants to score goals - we all know that.
"He hadn't scored in an Old Firm, but it is not something he had thought about - he just wanted to play his game and we are delighted for him that he has managed to get his goal today."
Wright was delighted to get the nod from manager Steven Gerrard to come and impact a match of this magnitude so early in his Rangers career, continuing: "It is great that he has got that faith in me and I think it is something you really work hard for is that trust from the manager.
"All I can do is to keep working hard at the training ground and to work hard in games when I get the minutes and try to repay that trust.
"It is a great game to be involved in, but it is a game we want to come and win and get three points and a clean sheet.
"Something we pride ourselves on is clean sheets - you have seen that through the season but unfortunately we haven't done that today and we are disappointed to come away with a draw."
The season still has plenty to offer for Champions Rangers, and Wright added: "We have the Scottish Cup to look forward to - that is always good and is something to push for which we will.
"But, we will focus on the league now as well and just take each game as it comes and aim for three points."
