Porinni is now assistant manager of the Albanian national team, and Kamberi, despite previously featuring at under-21 level for Switzerland, also qualifies to play for the Balkan nation – and was included in their recent squad for matches with Andorra and France.
He reckons playing regularly for Rangers can push him even further into the plans of the national team, and said: “For sure, a very big part. The assistant coach of Albania, Sergio Porinni was also at Rangers, so I think too he will be delighted for me that I have joined Rangers today.
Kamberi is excited to be working alongside his new Rangers teammates, and reckons he can learn so much from them and new boss Steven Gerrard.
He continued: “If you are around good players, then for sure, you can become a better player – it’s just about your mentality that you always want to work hard and give everything for your team.
“Rangers is a big, big club, but to have Steven Gerrard as a coach and to play for him with the big career he had with his experience, I think any player would love to play for him.”
Kamberi too reckons his previous experience of the Scottish Premiership can help him to settle in quicker, and added: “For sure. I have been here for two years now and I know everything about how it is. It’s not very easy – it is a tough league so it is a bonus for me that I know the league already and I know now how Rangers play as I have played many times against them.
“I think I can adapt very well for how they want to play.”
