An early strike by Hamza Igamane was added to by Danilo to put Philippe Clement’s side in control at half-time.
A superb second half strike by captain James Tavernier sealed the victory to make it three straight wins, with ten goals scored and none conceded in the last week.
Stopper Souttar was pleased to leave the Highlands with another clean sheet and says snuffing out the opposition was key to the success.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “It was an enjoyable game but we only made it that way because we stuck to the basics.
“We won the second balls, dealt with their transitions as they had two forward players who are dynamic down the sides.
“It was important to do that and we had quality at the top end of the pitch.
“When you come away from home, to get an early goal is brilliant. But if the early goal never came we would still have kept doing the same things.
“We were confident the goals would come and it was a great goal from Hamza.
“As a defender you want clean sheets and it gives us the basis for the attackers to play their football and create chances.
“You have to do the basics, first contact, win your second balls and things like that. It gives us that basis to win the game and we want to keep doing that.”
Captain Tavernier flashed home a brilliant third in the closing stages of the match at the Global Energy Stadium.
It is two goals in the last two matches, after he also notched one in the 6-0 win over Kilmarnock in midweek.
Souttar insists it was no surprise to see Tavernier hitting the net and says it sets the squad up perfectly for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Tottenham at Ibrox.
He added: “It was a great finish from the skip but that’s what he does. He likes to come in at the back post.
“But it isn’t really a surprise when he does that - hats off to him it was an excellent finish.
“I am feeling good. I am staying fit, I am trying to keep performing and playing every week but I am enjoying it.
“We have to take it game by game and do our talking on the pitch. We have to keep working hard and see where it takes us.
“Now it is on to Thursday night against Tottenham and these are the games you want to play in, the big European nights under the lights at Ibrox.
“We are all looking forward to it.”
