After leading his side to an invincible Scottish Premiership season on Saturday ahead of lifting the league title, and claiming a clean-sweep of PFA Scotland, SPFL and Scottish Football Writers’ Manager of the Year prizes, Gerrard has become just the seventh name to be added to the all-new Premier League Hall of Fame, recognising those who have made notable contributions to the English top flight.
He netted 120 goals in 504 Liverpool appearances in the Premier League, and joins Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Eric Cantona and Dennis Bergkamp as one of the initial inductees, as voted for by supporters.
As a player, Gerrard won just about all there is to win on the club front – a Champions League, a UEFA Cup, a Super Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups, while he was capped 114 times for England.
In the most emphatic, historic style, he now has a league title medal at Rangers following the completion of the remarkable 2020/21 season, in which he led his side to a sensational 102 points and an unbeaten campaign.
His place in English folklore was never in doubt, as his Hall of Fame induction proves, but he now has an equally important place in Rangers history following the delivery of 55 to Ibrox this year.
