Steven Gerrard Named SFWA Manager Of The Year

RANGERS manager Steven Gerrard has been named as Scottish Football Writers’ Association Manager of the Year for 2020/21.

Gerrard has led the Light Blues to the Scottish Premiership title in record time, and thus far, they are unbeaten in the league with just two matches left to play.

Gers also had a fabulous campaign in Europe, winning a four-team UEFA group stage for the first time while claiming notable wins over Galatasaray, Standard Liege, Lech Poznan and Royal Antwerp.

It’s the first time since the 2009-10 season, when Walter Smith claimed the prize, that a Rangers manager has been the winner.

Since the award was introduced in season 1986-87, Rangers managers have now won the award the most – a total of 12 times – the most of any club, with Gerrard joining Graeme Souness, Dick Advocaat and the aforementioned Walter Smith as previous winners from Ibrox.
