With confidence high in the squad on the back of Sunday’s 6-1 Scottish Premiership victory in Motherwell, the manager is expecting a different test in Denmark tomorrow evening.
Speaking to the media at this morning’s pre-match press conference, he said: “The mood is really good, confidence is high as you can imagine. It was a really important win and victory at the weekend and we did it in style.
“However, there's also got to be a realisation that the Europa League is a different competition, different level and almost a one-off game because it is a must win in terms of us keeping it in our control to get out of the group.
“We almost have to move on very quickly from the weekend, take the positives from it and get the boys ready physically, mentally and with a game plan that is going to be successful on Thursday.
“We have to realise this is going to be a different environment and it will be a full house. Brondby are in a must win situation after the result at Ibrox, they have almost got everything to lose and nothing to gain so I think they will be aggressive and come for us.
“We know it will be a tough game, the Europa League games away from home are always a big challenge but we faced them a couple of weeks ago so we know them well and we have done some more homework and we are going into the game prepared and ready.
Following the weekend’s result, Gerrard says he has some ‘nice issues’ when picking his starting XI for tomorrow night’s game.
He continued: “We have got very talented players in each position, we have got good options and we have got a good squad to pick from.
“We have got a lot of people who are either in form or playing themselves back into form. It is really exciting and as the manager I am in a good place.
“With the way we play and what we look for it is important that some of the players in the front areas are comfortable in different positions.
“If you look at Kemar Roofe, Fashion, Ryan Kent, Scott Wright all these players are hybrid and we want to be flexible.
"I think it is an area of our team that is still developing and getting better but if you look at pace, threat and goal threat it is probably the strongest that unit has been since I came in.”
