The Ibrox skipper netted a wonderful, 30-yard effort in this afternoon’s 2-1 win for Gers over Dundee United to continue both his and the club’s superb run of form.
He also set up Connor Goldson for what proved to be the winner on the stroke of half-time as again the Light Blues showed their prowess from the set-piece.
Tavernier has hit some incredible goals in his six seasons at the club, and beamed to RangersTV afterwards: "It ranks right up there! I said to my wife the other day that all I was missing was a screamer of a goal.
"I normally pick up one or two during a season and I am just delighted that it went into the net and we got the three points today.
"We work extremely hard on [set pieces] in training. TC [Tom Culshaw] has us working hard with them all week and it shows in the games as they can effectively give you three points, which they did today.
"Connor is a big threat, and Leon [Balogun] is a big threat in the box, and Borna and I's deliveries, we always hope we can put it on their heads and make a difference in the game.
"Connor did that today and got the winning goal."
Today’s strike moved Tavernier onto 17 goals for the season – matching his own club record for a Rangers defender he set back in 2018/19.
"I think I am playing some of my best football since I have been here,” he continued. “I am really enjoying my football, but that comes from the lads that I am playing with and the tactics and the way we play, from the gaffer to Mick [Beale] to Gaz [Gary McAllister] - I feel the whole management team has really given me the freedom to really enjoy my football and that is what I am doing.
"The squad is stronger than ever and we are really pushing on and working hard. We are always looking to improve as a team and personally, so we just need to keep going."
One of the most pleasing aspects for Gers today was how well they battled in order to get the three points against an organised and determined opponent.
Tavernier added: "The pitch was a bit like at Ross County - very lose underneath your feet and you couldn't really get any grip on it, no matter what studs you had in your boots.
"But I felt we controlled the game. They had a little spell of corners in the first-half and then the goal, which we could have done better with.
"But in the second half, Greegsy didn't really have to do much. We really controlled the game - it wasn't our free-flowing, attacking football we wanted, but we controlled it.
"We created some half chances where we thought we maybe could have got a goal, but we came here with one objective - to get three points and we have done that so we are really happy."
