The Gers skipper was part of a Light Blues team who were knocked out of both domestic cups but Derek McInnes’ men last season but he thinks his side have improved since then.
Rangers have only lost one game since July and with the Dons being familiar opponents Tavernier is convinced he and his teammates can deal with their threat.
Speaking to the media he said: “It’s a lot of games to play against one team, you know their game plan inside out and you know what their tactics are probably going to be against the opponent.
“If you look at the cup games, we conceded two set pieces, they have a great aerial threat but I believe we have definitely improved since then.
“You know they are going to be tough when they come to Ibrox; they are going to try and silence the crowd, try and get in our faces and man mark us.
“We have been keeping a lot of clean sheets lately so if we defend right then we will put ourselves in a good position.”
Rangers have another two game week this week and while Tavernier smiles when asked how his legs are by the media he is happy to try and keep the winning run going, which could stretch to five on the spin this Saturday.
He continued: “You do prefer the games to come thick and fast, you want them to come around as quickly as possible and we highlighted after last season that we needed consistency for this season.
“This Saturday three points is a must but so are all the games after it, if you want to compete for the league you have to win the majority of your games. So every game domestically we have got to get maximum points.”
