The Gers host Benfica in Govan looking to create more special European memories having earned a creditable 2-2 draw in the first leg in Lisbon last midweek.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Round of 16 second leg clash, the captain commented: “The previous experiences, playing in the Europa League at Ibrox, the fans really come with electric energy and are right behind the team.
“It’s obviously our home stadium, so I expect a different game compared to Benfica. We’ll go into the game and give it our all, and hopefully get through to the next round.
“I think it comes as part of the package on the recruitment side as we want to play European football every season.
“It’s the way that we train every single day that prepares us for the games, so all the squad are always ready for these competitions which always suits us as it’s an open game.
“The boys are hungry to succeed and that’s what we’ve been on at each other from the start; pushing every day and make sure we deliver on the pitch when these games come.”
The Light Blues last tasted defeat at Ibrox in the competition back in September 2021 against Lyon, stringing together a memorable run to the final in the same campaign.
Tavernier says it’s important to harness the feelgood factor of the home crowd, with Rangers continuing to compete across three fronts this term.
He said: “The standards have been up monumentally since the gaffer came into the building; the small details that he instils into the players is really being bought into.
“All the boys are really professional and we’ve got good characters in the squad.

“It’s going great so far and, as the gaffer said at the start, it’s a story, we need to keep pushing each other as hard as we can to succeed.
“We’ve got a different squad, but the same principles are there: outworking your opponent, dialling into the details and tactical side of what you need to do, and who wants it more.
“I know all the players are fully ready for tomorrow and we’ll give it our absolute everything.”
