The skipper led his troops into one of football’s most iconic venues this evening for their official team walk and press conference, and there, he issued a strong statement, insisting Gers are here to compete.
He said: "We are really looking forward to it. To be competing against one of the best English teams and a team to have reached three Champions League finals in five years is something to relish.
"We don't want to just take part in this competition - we want to establish ourselves in the competition and go toe-to-toe with the giants of Europe.
"That requires us to be competing in every aspect of the game. You look at the way we played against Napoli - we have to go toe-to-toe with Liverpool tomorrow night.
"Our aim is to continue playing European football after Christmas, and for that we need to take points, we need to get points the best way we can and we will give it our all tomorrow and hopefully get a result."
The captain went onto explain how Gers will attempt to gain a result here on Merseyside tomorrow, continuing: "We have to be brave on the ball. We know they have got one of the best front three's in the world, and we have got to try and keep them quiet the best we can for as long as we can.
"But we have also got to put our stamp on the game and create our own chances. That is what we will be looking to do - I am sure they will have a lot of the ball being at home, but we are going to try and frustrate them.
"It is obviously different to the Scottish league and it is about fine-tuning when to sit back, when to press, when to catch them on the counter attack and when to keep the ball.
"The boss has really well drilled us. We had a good week leading up to this game so we know what we need to do tomorrow - we just need to stick to the game."
