Tavernier Reflects On Winning Performance

JAMES TAVERNIER reflected on Rangers’ pre-season after a winning performance against Real Madrid at Ibrox tonight.

The Rangers skipper looked ahead to the start of the Premiership season next week after they completed their pre-season friendlies against Los Blancos.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV after the match, he said: “It was a very positive weekend and we put in two very good performances. We always put the hard work in ahead for the season, I’m just happy that we got the result today.

“We've really set up the fixtures to help us prepare for the league and the Champions League qualifier. We’re in a good place and now we've got to get to work next week and really push on.”

The Light Blues’ captain spoke about the younger players in the first team and their influence on driving the team to their best potential. He continued: “It’s something that the young boys have grasped with their two hands and are putting pressure on the senior boys.

“Stephen Kelly was absolutely outstanding yesterday and so was Nathan [Patterson] and that just pushes everybody because no one’s place is safe and you want that in a team because it gives you more competition and makes everyone perform that bit extra.”
