With 10 straight wins in the Scottish Premiership, the captain insists they can take confidence from recent league form but knows they must put in a complete 90-minute performance against their Glasgow rivals.
Speaking to the media at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, Tavernier said: “We are in good form in the league, we have been putting in really good performances and we have been getting the results.
“We must display a good performance throughout the 90 minutes, we cost ourselves 45 minutes in the last game when we definitely weren't at pace. We didn't show our game plan and going into tomorrow we have to do that from the get-go and really put in a performance that we are proud of.”
When asked about the determination in the dressing room, Tavernier says the squad are focused and looking forward to the challenge ahead.
He added: “There is determination, it is a game against our rivals and we didn't display what we wanted to against them in the final so it is a chance to rectify that. It is a chance to close the gap in the league and we are all looking forward to it.
“Every game is a must win and tomorrow is no different, we obviously know there are a certain number of games left but we have just got to try and win every one of those and see where it takes us.
“We always want to start the game strong no matter who we play. As a defensive line, we obviously don't want to concede any goals in any game, but we know they will have threats, we have been in really good form at the back, and we obviously want to continue that and keep the door shut.”
“We need to play what we believe in and if we apply that then we will obviously take our game to them no matter how they play. They'll obviously come with a game plan, but it is about sticking to what we know and each player delivering their best."
