Mohamed Diomande’s first-half goal was enough for the Gers to overcome Ludogorets in the UEFA Europa League and chalk up a seventh successive victory.
It was a first win in the competition at the seventh attempt in the league phase this season, and Aasgaard says he’s pleased for the supporters first and foremost.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, the Norwegian international said: “It was good to finally get a win in this competition. We know we’re not where we want to be [in the competition], but it feels good, and I’m happy for the fans to get that first win in Europe.
“We’re on a decent run of form, and we didn’t want to let that go, even though we haven’t played the best games previously in the competition. We wanted to go strong tonight, and we did alright.
“There was a lot of running, a lot of it unnecessary, as I felt like we could’ve kept the ball better and made them run a bit more and kill the game off. I’m happy with the win.
“The manager touches on it as well. He says he wants us to be better at making that final pass or decision. We’re working on it every day in training, and hopefully it improves.”
Rangers certainly have momentum after yet another victory, but the challenges continue to come thick and fast as a resurgent Dundee side visits Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
Aasgaard admits the side wants to continue their winning habits as full focus switches back to the league.
He added: “We feel it in the squad. I think all the fans will be able to see it. The players are growing in confidence, and we’re gelling as a team.
“It comes game by game. We only focus on the next one, and we don’t get carried away with a winning streak. We just focus on the next one.
“We know the league is massive, and our full focus is on that. We’ll be focused on that in training and ready to go again.”
