Thomson & Hill At UEFA Women’s Champions League Launch

MALKY Thomson and Kathryn Hill spoke at a press conference in Greece this afternoon to launch Group 2 in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Gers play their first ever game in the competition tomorrow evening as they face Hungarian champions Ferencvaros in Katerini.

Representatives of all Group 2 clubs - Rangers, Ferencvaros, Swansea City and PAOK - attended the launch press conference at PAOK Sports Arena.

The winners of each of the semi-finals will play each other in a final on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking at the press conference, Thomson said: "We are looking forward to the challenge that it brings, it is the first time our club has been involved in such a prestigious tournament so everything about us is about excitement.

"I think it will be an exciting game, as we have heard from Ferencvaros there just now that they need to bring their A game to us but we will need to be the same and do the exact same for them.

"They have come off the back of a very successful season similar to us so it will be a real challenge and I'm sure it'll be an exciting game for the fans to watch."

Captain Kathryn Hill added: "We are really excited and we are looking forward to the game, some of the girls have played in the Champions League before so they know what to expect, some of us haven't so it is an exciting time but we want to be here to compete and win."

"We know it is going to be a tough game and we are going to have to be at our best. We know what our strengths are and we are just going to focus on ourselves and hopefully if we do that we can get a positive result."
