The Gers head to Oriam University as they resume their league campaign in their first SWPL outing of 2023 on the back of an 11-0 Scottish Cup win on their return to action last weekend.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of returning to league duties the manager is anticipating another close clash with the sides meeting for the first time since August which saw the Light Blues run out 2-0 winners on the day.
He said: ‘’I am expecting an even harder game, given the fact that they have strengthened their squad and they have got more minutes under their belt, they are a well-organised team with two or three key players, it will be a difficult game away from home"
Thomson states the side are playing ahead with a busy schedule to come which saw rotation of the squad in the 11-0 win on Sunday and will be judging players daily in what will be a demanding few weeks for the squad.
"We do plan long term, and we do our due diligence daily in terms of training, but it is one of the things that we are aware of, is the number of games that come up, but again we must focus on game by game.
The manager says they relay a challenge to the players every game and was fairly satisfied by the numbers they racked up in their last clash and hopes that continues when they travel to face the side in fourth place.
"There is a challenge that is set out, we really look into the data that we collect from training sessions and games, part of that data from the game on Sunday was that we had 37 attempts at goal, and the goal ratio came out exactly the way we want.
"For example, 40 shots on goal, 20 must hit the target and get 10 goals, that fact that we scored 11 goals in that game is the key part that we took out of that, and the goals coming from certain individuals.
Thomson has also praised the professionalism amongst his squad which was on show in their cup victory and says everyone in the side are in support of each other and that has been evident since their return after the Christmas break.
"It was a real team performance which was pleasing, there was not one individual that really stood out, albeit that Jody scored a hat-trick. I think the team performance was key, the way we played and the professional that was shown, they are a group of players that are strong in the fact that they support each other.
"They have always got each other’s back, they are there to encouraging somebody when things are not quite happening for them, and they are also there to put a demand on each other, which is pleasing as well, the dynamic of the group at this stage which has taken three years.
"It takes time and effort, and repetition of practice, technically, tactically, and mentally, I am really pleased that the girls had that responsibility to get us through into the next round."
