The Light Blues will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the league campaign in what will mark the first Old Firm Derby at their new home stadium.
Speaking to RangersTV in the build up to this weekend’s clash, Thomson says his players are relishing the occasion: “Since we’ve came in, these are the games that we want to play in. The Old Firm has that added value to it, so we’re really keen and eager to participate in these games.
“The sheer size of Broadwood Stadium, having the stands and the access for fans to come and support us, we’re really looking forward it.
“The tickets are going fast by all accounts and there’s a real keen interest in it. The girls are really looking forward to having that backing behind them, similar to when we played Aberdeen and they had that support from the Rangers fans behind us which definitely helped that day.”
The Gers head into this fixture off the back of a 1-1 draw with Glasgow City at Petershill Park, and Thomson insists his side’s performance that afternoon underlines their development over the previous 12 months.
He continued: “If we look at the Glasgow City game, even though it was a draw and we didn’t manage to win, in terms of performance levels and dominance within the game, we were far superior this season than we were last year.
“It’s always been about small margins, for me it’s about growing and developing in small increments and getting to that level and sustaining it. That is probably the big factor within this group currently, that they’re able to sustain levels of performance in both games and training.
“I think being involved in the Champions League was a major contributing factor to the girls gaining confidence and proving that they can go and play against Europe’s best. On our return from that, competing domestically is another thing that we spoke about, raising your game to play against bigger clubs and teams, but can you come back to the domestic league and still have that level of consistency? I think we’ve proved that.”
