An early goal from Jane Ross was the difference at the Excelsior Stadium and the Gers boss was delighted with the confident display from his side.
Speaking to RangersTV at full time, he said: “The belief in the team is there and it is evident and I think today we created a lot of chances and we could've scored more goals but as a collective we were excellent.
“It was good in the fact we created chances from wide areas, we had shots from distance and we had some great play. I felt as the game went on and even with the 1-0 lead we had a confidence on the pitch and they were in control.
“Right from our front three, joining up with our midfield and back line, they were really cohesive in terms of being out of possession of the ball.
“There wasn't any panic and they stuck to their jobs and defended when they had to defend. The pleasing bit for me was when we regained the ball we were in areas that we could actually then go and try and create chance.
Thomson praised the togetherness at the club as his side look to continue to push on heading into the next round of fixtures in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.
He added: “There are a lot of people who have culminated in this game right from the directors all the way down, there's a belief at the club and an absolute togetherness and you can see the girls want to represent that badge and play for Rangers.
“There's a long way to go yet, this is only one victory but we will enjoy our night tonight and we will look forward to the next two rounds of games coming up.”
