Thomson: Undefeated Season Was A Group Effort

MALKY Thomson praised the attitude of his squad as a 3-1 Old Firm victory this afternoon completed their undefeated Park’s Motor Group SWPL 1 campaign.

After being crowned Champions last Sunday, the Gers boss was delighted with how his players approached the match as a Jane Ross double and a Demi Vance free-kick saw them to victory at Petershill.

Speaking to RangersTV at full-time, he said: “I can't believe the way they have gone about it, to come here today knowing that they had won the championship they never changed. That is the reason why they have won it because they have had the same approach to every single game so credit goes massively to the players.

“We analyse the opposition and we put a game plan together and we then go and deliver that to the players and they have been great. The players take the time to go and do the individual stuff themselves and you can see the benefit of it.

“Anything you do in life, if you put time and effort into it, that's the results you get so we must do it again next season - that's the big bit for us.

“It was a group effort this season but one thing we spoke about before the game and all through the season was working for each other.”

Thomson handed 16-year-old Academy youngster Emma Watson her first league start this afternoon and was pleased with how she handled the match.

He continued: “Credit to the Academy, Emma Watson came into this game today and done herself extremely proud. She had a fantastic game, she was enthusiastic and what's really evident is that the players around her make her welcome and allow her to express herself and you could see throughout the game.”
