The young Gers made it nine wins in a row in the league thanks to a hat-trick from Ross McCausland, an Alex Lowry double and a Matt Yates strike.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game, Thomson said: “We are obviously delighted, I think getting the earlier goal let the boys settle and then they start doing the right thing.
“That was the only thing we said to them at half-time, can you keep on doing the best things really well.
“You need to make sure when you are on top and you are playing at that level that you really do punish teams and you put the ball in the back of the net because no matter how much possession you have and no matter how many chances you have if you don’t put the ball in the back of the net it normally comes back to bite you in the backside.
“Even the subs that came on as well Connor Allan and Dire Mebude, the younger boys I thought they made a good impact which is good.”
Thomson believes McCausland is a player to watch, after the Northern Irish international’s hat-trick.
He added: “Ross had a wee injury, but he came in and he was flying pre-season, we obviously got him back fit and he went away on international and I think he is one to keep a close eye on.
With the young Gers on their winning run, Thomson says it is important to keep high standards.
He said:
“One thing I know is if you stand still at this club people overtake you so it is important that we try and keep the high standards going and try and almost breathe down their neck every day to demand a wee bit more.”
