The 26-year-old midfielder was a second half substitute in the clash against Benfica and is now looking ahead to a busy conclusion to the campaign with the Light Blues still in contention in both the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.
Speaking to the media ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s clash against Hibernian at Ibrox, Cantwell said: “I had an unfortunate injury at an unfortunate time, but, yeah, I’m feeling good. We’ve had some good training days, so I’m in a good place now.
“The excitement? It comes from the fans, but it also comes from inside as well. We know exactly what is up for grabs – we’ve got our hands on one trophy already – and it’s pretty obvious that we’re playing for the other two.
“It’s quite obvious that we want to be top of the league, but we want to be top of the league at the end of the season.
“The important thing is that we want to be top of the league from the first gameweek to the very end of the season, so, yeah, it’s a desirable position to be in.”
The latest international hiatus signalled the final break of the campaign, with Rangers returning to league action tomorrow afternoon against Hibernian.
It promises to be a frenetic, and hopefully trophy-laden, end to the season for Philippe Clement’s side, although Cantwell insists the side are only focused on the immediate challenge of the Edinburgh side.
He added: “Probably the most important thing is that it’s just the next game. There aren’t a lot of games left, but things can still change dramatically.
“The important thing for us is to tackle the task of Hibs tomorrow, which won’t be an easy game, then look forward to the game next weekend.
“The manager hasn’t allowed us to look that far ahead, to be honest. It’s not a good thing to do because things can change so quickly; one result can make all the difference.
“For us at Rangers, we should be fighting for everything and going for every trophy that is up for grabs.
“I didn’t play in the game myself [earlier this month], but I watched it and Hibs are a really good side. They like to play good football and have some good players, so we need to respect their abilities.
“We’re looking forward to the game tomorrow.”
