The Light Blues started the campaign at Hampden due to stadium works, but the midfielder hopes the return to Ibrox can help the squad build a run of momentum ahead of a busy few weeks.
Speaking to the media at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference he said: “We have missed Ibrox, and not playing there has made us realise how much we do miss it, so we are just looking forward to it now. You always go into a game, and you want to win it, whether it is at Hampden, or away but we did miss Ibrox.
“We go to win every other game and it'll be the same for this one, obviously it is in a different competition, but we are looking forward to it. We need to put a run together but as I say you can't get too far ahead of yourself it is game by game.
“It was a long international break, and we wanted to put on a performance against Dundee United last week and get the three points. I thought we played well, it should've been more but it is big for everybody when you win a game and the confidence flows throughout the team.”
The 30-year-old scored the winner at Tannadice last weekend in the Scottish Premiership and says he feels he is in a good place in these early stages of the season.
He continued: “There's room for improvement don't get me wrong, but like I say I feel like I am coming into good form now, and long may that continue. You want to play in every game, and we have a competitive squad so the manager will have decisions to make. All I can do is stay fit and keep playing well and it puts the gaffer in a difficult position.
“Wherever I play, it is not always number 10, I drop deep and play in midfield but I want to have that influence on the game and I felt like I had a good variety in the Dundee United game and I was able to drop deep and get on the ball and get it higher up as well so yeah that is the influence I want and I should've scored more.
“Last year was sticky with injuries, this year I have had a full pre-season, and I feel in good shape, I want to add more goals to my tally, more assists and just help the team get three points every week.”
