VACLAV CERNY says he is relishing the chance to show the Rangers fans exactly what he can do.
The Czech international winger is in line to make his Gers debut in the Premiership opener against Hearts at Tynecastle tomorrow.
The 26-year-old - who represented his country at Euro 2024 - insists he’s already loving life in Glasgow and can’t wait for the league curtain raiser on Saturday lunchtime.
He said: “It’s been a very nice week for me, I have had a few training sessions with the boys and everyone has really welcomed me and made me feel comfortable from day one.
“My strongest position is on the right wing in the formation we play. I am left footed but like to create chances and get goals and assists.
“That’s what I try to do and hopefully that doesn’t change.
“I feel pretty good - this week was tough but good. After the Euros I had a break but I couldn’t wait to come here and start training.
“I can’t wait to get onto the pitch and be helpful for the club. I want to have an impact for the team and I need to show that on the pitch, that’s the most important thing.”
Cerny already knows several of the squad having played with Danilo and new boy Robin Propper at FC Twente as well as working with assistant manager Andries Ulderink.
The wide man believes having some familiar faces has helped him adapt quickly to Scottish football and says joining Rangers was a simple decision.
He added: “I spoke to Danilo, I have known him for a while as we played together in the Netherlands.
“We have a connection already and we will try to do that again here to be able to help the team.
“I knew how big the club was, you always want to play for big clubs.
“When I spoke to people at the club and they said the vision of the club and there is a desire to achieve things and that matched perfectly for what I was searching for.
“It wasn’t a difficult decision when both sides want to do something, it makes it easy.
“You could compare Rangers to Ajax in terms of expectations, pressure, crowd size. I really wanted to experience that again so this is the perfect chance.
“I am a person who has high expectations and puts demands on myself. I have no problem with people expecting things from me.”
