The New Zealand international will depart the club upon the expiration of her contract after three years in Glasgow.
In that time, the goalkeeper has lifted silverware on five separate occasions, triumphing in successive Scottish Cup finals as well as winning the Sky Sports Cup three times.
She departs the club having contributed strongly over the years with her quality, dedication and incredible work ethic.
Speaking to the official Rangers website to reflect on her time at the club, she commented: “I’m very fortunate to have had the teammates that I’ve had for the past three years at Rangers.
“There has been some amazing people who have left over the last few years. Overall, I look fondly back on all teammates that I’ve had.
“It’s a little bittersweet. We’ve missed out on the piece of silverware that we’ve really wanted three years in a row on the last day, so it’s been a bit of an agonising end to each season at Rangers.
“However, the positive about the three seasons is that we’ve managed to win some silverware in the form of cups.
“It’s definitely been an amazing thing to do with the team and my teammates, and it’s memories that I will treasure forever.”
On the unrivalled feeling of lifting silverware at the Light Blues, Esson continued: “Nothing can beat the feeling of winning, especially so when it’s silverware.
“At Rangers, it’s expected, so there’s a sense of fulfilment personally and also towards the club, teammates, coaches, and everyone who has been involved when we did manage to pick up that silverware.”
Glasgow has certainly been a long way from home for Esson, who was born and raised in New Zealand.
However, the 34-year-old says she was blown away by the support from the loyal Rangers supporters at matches, who backed both Esson and the team through thick and thin.
She added: “Glasgow has been great. I’ve really enjoyed the coffee scene; there are a lot of cafes and a great variety of food.
“I’ve enjoyed being in an English speaking country, which I wasn’t in many years before coming to Glasgow. Loch Lomond, and a little bit further out of Glasgow, is really beautiful.
“I would definitely recommend it as a place if you can see past the weather!
“The supporters have braved the Scottish weather and, for that, we’ll be forever grateful.
“They’ve tried to create an atmosphere during every game and, at times, there have been a lot of people in the crowd whereas at some times there haven’t been many when it’s 8pm on a Wednesday night in the middle of winter.
“You can always hear them chanting their songs and singing for Rangers. It’s an incredible thing that they’re doing; the commitment is amazing and I hope us as players can reciprocate by engaging as much as we can with the fans.
“What they want to see is silverware as well, so by performing on the pitch then it keeps the fans happy.”
