The first month of the season has passed, and the candidates for the voting for the winner are as follows:
Katie Wilkinson
Last season’s club top goalscorer began the new SWPL campaign in a similar fashion with five strikes across the three outings in August, as the Gers took seven points from a possible nine in the month to start the new season.
The forward was on hand to start the comeback in Montrose with an expertly taken free kick to level up proceedings, before a further two goals were to follow, including one from the penalty spot as the Light Blues claimed a 6-1 opening day win and the striker took home the match ball.
A first Ibrox outing of the season was to follow, with the number 44 on hand to score a brace to turn the match round in a 2-2 draw with Hearts, scoring her first ever goals in the iconic venue.
Jodi McLeary
Jodi was a mainstay on Leanne Crichton’s side as she showed her versatility and value to the team on several occasions across the three August outings.
Operating at right-back, which she so often did throughout last season, the youngster helped the team to an opening day success at Montrose before featuring from the get-go in the Ibrox outing against Hearts.
A start in the final fixture of the month was to follow, as the Gers rounded off August with a 2-1 success over Motherwell at Broadwood.
Lizzie Arnot
Lizzie was a valuable asset to the team when called upon, as she helped the Light Blues to an unbeaten start to the season.
She came off the bench on the opening day win at Links Park, teeing up Kathy Hill at the back post to volley home as she registered an assist.
A significant impact the following week was to follow, again coming off the substitutes bench as she provided the final ball for both goals in the Ibrox clash against Hearts in a 2-2 draw, before earning a start to round off the month as the Gers claimed a narrow victory in North Lanarkshire.
Brogan Hay
The winger enjoyed a highly productive month in a Rangers jersey as she featured from the off in all three of the side’s SWPL outings.
Brogan got off the mark for the season on the opening day as she fired in a second-half goal against Montrose, before featuring in the Ibrox clash against the Edinburgh club.
She ended August in style with an impressive showing in the win over Motherwell, scoring the crucial opener and setting her team on their way to victory as she targets more goals and assists throughout 25/26.
Eilidh Austin
Fresh off her loan spell at Motherwell in the second half of last season, Austin was called upon from the off for all the August matches.
Operating at a slightly different defensive role at centre-back, having featured at full-back for the Gers in the past, she helped the side to their opening day win before again being involved in the team’s Ibrox bow for the new season.
The academy graduate rounded off August by helping her team to a win over her former club as she targets being a regular in Leanne Crichton’s side throughout the campaign.
