With the game in the balance after last Thursday’s 0-0 draw in Poland, the Rangers boss is hoping his team can put in a performance over 90 minutes to see them progress to the group stages of the Europa League.
He said: “I think it is all set up for a fantastic match. I think in the first-leg you had two teams going hell for leather to try and get a breakthrough from each other and two teams who defended excellently.
“The defences were definitely on top but both teams had a couple of decent chances for the breakthrough but didn’t manage to do it.
“I think we have just got to relax and try and focus and find that performance over 90 minutes.
“I believe if we find our top level it will be enough. What we can’t have is certain situations in the game affecting us from a mental point of view.
Gerrard is hoping his players can take advantage of the return-leg being at Ibrox.
He added: “I want to play the game with confidence and belief, we have got a decent record at Ibrox.
“Every game you prepare for you have always got to analyse the strengths and the weaknesses of the opposition and of course the way we want to play at home and the way we are preparing to play we always have to have one eye on what if the ball turns over and what if certain situations happen.
“I wouldn’t say we are concerned about it but I would say is we have tried to play for both sides of the game.
“I don’t think it changes much if we get an early goal. Of course as a manager that’s what you want in every game you go into but we certainly can’t relax if that is the case.”
With five changes made for the weekend’s game at St Mirren, Gerrard is hoping his side are fresh going into this tie.
“I think both teams will have that come this game. I think they made eight or nine changes at the weekend as well.
“We know this is going to be a tough 90 minutes. It could go longer and that’s the reason behind the changes at the weekend and I’m sure it was in the Legia managers thoughts as well because there is so much at stake tomorrow.”
