The young Gers take on the Lanarkshire side under the lights at Ibrox as they aim to secure their place in the final of the competition that they have won in each of the two last two editions.
Speaking to RangersTV in the lead up to the match, the 18-year-old is relishing the chance to wear the armband in front of the home support and hopes he can lead the team to the final of the competition: “I am excited. It will be a good experience running out at Ibrox and captaining the team and playing in a good tournament in the Youth Cup against a good side. Hopefully we do what we did last season and go on and win it.
“Running out at Ibrox and hopefully there will be a good crowd there. You are playing under pressure and the expectation on you to go and win the game to get through to the final will be important to set your character in the right place.
“It brings the pressure but that is good because it gives you extra motivation to go and play well and work hard for the team, so I am quite excited for that.”
The defender is hoping to sample the Ibrox atmosphere on the night and he believes that experiencing the first-team facilities, from the home dressing room to walking out of the famous Ibrox tunnel, will add extra incentive to perform.
He continued: “I am buzzing for that. Hopefully it will be a good turnout from the crowd and hopefully they can get right behind us and we can play a good game and give them a good watch. It gives you more motivation, especially being there where the first-team are, walking out that tunnel and just trying to make it the best experience possible.
“I just want to lead by example, be a good role model and set the standard for the team. It will be brilliant for taking on responsibility because I need to lead the team, I need to be the best role model that I can be and play the best that I can.”
