The Light Blues returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Aberdeen on Wednesday evening and will be looking to carry the momentum from the victory to Gussie Park this Sunday.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of their latest league clash, Thomson says his side will be prepared no matter what they come up against: “It will be a similar challenge to the game we have just played in. I would imagine that Dundee United will sit in and try make life awkward for us.
“It will be up to us to find the solutions to the problems that we encounter, they might not, they might press us and have a go, but, either way, we will be ready to put a plan in place.”
The Gers got back to winning ways in midweek after a frustrating goalless draw with league leaders Glasgow City at the weekend, and Thomson highlighted the importance of the quick turnaround as a factor to putting things right again on the pitch.
He continued: “The good thing for us was that we got on the pitch early, especially straight off the back of the Glasgow City game.
“We had a high expectation level on ourselves during that game and it is something that we have spoken about as a group, we were defensively solid and we are not leaking goals.
“We are quite compact in our shape all over the pitch, but again we are looking for that cutting edge and trying to convert the chances that we do make. We are looking forward to the game this weekend.”
Thomson has credited the side for showing that cutting edge in their midweek clash where they were on target four times, and he hopes to continue improving in that department of the pitch moving forward.
He added: “If you look at the stats from the game we have just played there against Aberdeen, our conversion rate was decent in terms of the number of shots that we put on target and forced a save.
“Our final third entries are so high that we are looking to improve our quality even in those areas, that can we get even more shots on goal and try to increase the percentage of shots that go in.”
