Two new recruits were added to the squad over the last month, and here’s our round-up of the incomings at the club.
Calliste Brookshire
The 24-year-old became the first addition of the January window, joining the Gers as a free agent having most recently featured for FHL in the Icelandic Premier League during last season.
Born in Kingston, Massachusetts in the United States of America, the forward played high school soccer at Silver Lake Regional High School, where she served as team captain and earned multiple local honours and league MVP awards.
She studied at the University of Massachusetts, playing for River Hawk’s women’s team. A consistent starter for the side, she featured in numerous matches across multiple seasons on the other side of the Atlantic. The attacker boasted impressive stats with four goals and six assists in 2024, ranking among the league leaders in terms of assisting her teammates.
After college, Brookshire signed to play professionally for the first time, in Iceland with top-flight club FHL, (Fjardab/Hottur/Leiknir). Her performances in the nation earned league recognition, including being selected in the Team of the Week in the Besta Deild Kvenna (Iceland’s top women’s division).
Of dual nationality of American/Greek, she has featured at senior international level for Greece, earning four caps and scoring once for the nation in total, with her first appearance coming in May last year in a Nations League Group B match.
She has wasted precious little time in making an impact in Glasgow, making her debut in the Scottish Cup victory over Kilmarnock before netting her first goal in memorable fashion with a curling strike to secure a point away to Glasgow City.
Soffia Kelly
Kelly joined on a loan deal until the end of the season from Aston Villa on January 31.
Born in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, the 18-year-old goalkeeper joined the Wales South performance centre for girls in 2017, before joining the Elite Football Welsh Academy South three years later.
Coming through the youth ranks at parent club Aston Villa, she signed her first professional contract with the club in March last year on a two-year deal, in doing so becoming the first player to sign with the side via their academy pathway.
Representing her nation of Wales, she has been capped on various occasions for the youth sides, including both at Under-17’s and Under-19’s level, making her debut for the latter in November 2023.
In March the following year, she was called up to the senior Wales squad for the first time, for their UEFA European Championship qualifying matches. After the nation secured their place at Switzerland for last summer’s finals, there was another call to be with the group for their Nations League fixtures in May.
Two months later, after an injury to back-up goalkeeper Poppy Soper, Kelly was called into the Wales squad for the Euros and was named on the bench for their group stage match against England.
The current squad is therefore as follows:
