The young 16-year-old full-back lined up alongside six players who have debuted for the first-team, helping tee up Thompson Ishaka in the second half who finished smartly to double his side’s advantage.
Speaking to RangersTV after the victory, Hutton reflected on a week packed with experiences: “We had OH Leuven on Saturday down in Leicester, and the way that they played was very fast with the ball. We just had to adapt to that. We played very well for most of the game and were unfortunate to lose 4-1. Going into the Everton game today, they were a younger side, but the variety of challenges has been very good.
“David [McCallum] and Malky [Thomson] have helped me a lot in terms of my development as a player. I’m playing with and against more experienced players, so you can’t ask for much more. It’s improving your own game and, the higher that you go and the older that you get, it’s just helping you even more. It’s brilliant.”
The young Gers broke the deadlock against the Toffees this afternoon just moments prior to the interval through Arron Lyall, before goals from Ishaka and Ross McCausland put the exclamation mark on an assured display.
On the performance, Hutton added: “We started off the game slow, but we gradually made our way into the game more and more. We then started to play great football and, once we started doing that, the chances started to come, and we scored three great goals.
“It’s always great to get a clean sheet. The other three lads in the defensive line were excellent today. We didn’t give many chances away, so it was a great afternoon all round.”
