Laura Berry opened the scoring before Katie Wilkinson netted twice, with Jodi McLeary also getting on the scoresheet to ensure the Gers made a positive start to a busy three-game week.
Speaking to RangersTV after the match, Crichton said: “I thought we were first class.
“We wanted to make sure there was an intensity in our play coming off the back of that international break.
“Losing Gry [Boe Thrysoe] towards the tail-end makes it a little bit more interesting just when you take that player out, and it becomes 11 v 10.
“The scoreline probably makes it look quite respectable in terms of the play. We probably could have shown a little bit more maturity in certain moments to try and stop that from happening, but overall, I’m really pleased.”
Berry broke the deadlock in the first half before Wilkinson doubled the advantage in spectacular fashion, spotting the goalkeeper off her line and producing an audacious 40-yard lob to send Rangers into the break with a two-goal lead.
The Gers continued their attacking threat after the restart, with McLeary marking her 150th appearance for the club by finding the back of the net.
Wilkinson then completed her brace with a stunning free-kick into the top corner to round off the afternoon.
Reflecting on the individual contributions, Crichton added: “Laura's been pretty prolific the whole time I've been at the club.
“Her numbers, especially coming off the right-hand side in terms of that foothold in the game.
“I think Wilko shows two moments of magic today; real awareness in terms of the first goal. A moment of brilliance again and you can wax lyrical about that.
“Then the second for her in terms of the free-kick is again a moment of beauty. She practices them all the time and we know she's got that in her bag.
“Jodi just shows the run of form that she's on. I think that goal is really important.
“The timing of it, and it gives us that confidence and belief that we can really go and get the job done.”
Beyond the contributions from the goalscorers, Crichton was pleased with the standards set by her squad as they prepare for another demanding week of fixtures.
The head coach highlighted the importance of having greater depth available this season, with players returning to the squad and others continuing to make valuable contributions.
She continued: “The squad depth is everything for us and it was everything we didn't have at this stage last season.
“We were always looking to manage a really young, unbalanced group.
“This time it was different because we've got Sarah [Ewens] back in as well, Kathy [Hill], everybody doing their bit in terms of what they're contributing.
“I mentioned Gry coming off. I thought she was utterly outstanding today.
“I thought her all-round performance, her aggressiveness, her control in the middle of the pitch, her willingness to allow her teammates to go and play and cover in certain areas, she was really top.
“We know City well. We played them across a number of games last season. Some we did really well in, others not so much.
“We're looking for that consistency. We're really confident in ourselves and that's where we'll look first as we go into Wednesday night.”
