The side continues to take shape ahead of the iconic return of a Scottish football staple of the 1980s and 90s at Braehead Arena at the beginning of next month.
Shiels joined the Gers in July 2012 and helped the side work their way back up the leagues, claiming both the now-known League One and Two titles, as well as a Scottish Challenge Cup and Scottish Championship title respectively.
He went on to make 43 appearances during his final season in Glasgow, helping the side achieve promotion back to the top flight.
Former forward Gow made the move to the Light Blues in the summer of 2007, joining on a pre-contract agreement in January, having left Falkirk.
He spent two seasons in Glasgow in total, which included loan spells to English sides Blackpool and Norwich City respectively before moving permanently to Plymouth Argyle in 2009.
The SPFL Tennent’s Sixes will take place on the weekend of October 3 and 4 at Braehead Arena.
