A first-half double from Ryan Naderi and a strike from Kevin Kelsy had the Light Blues 3-0 up by half-time.
McInnes knows they can perform better, although after a three-week international break, he was pleased to get another three points, which sent the Gers to the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Speaking to RangersTV, he said: “First of all, it was job done. I am pleased to get another win; that’s seven in a row, and we go top, which was the objective.
“I can’t say it didn’t give me concern after the boys were away for so long. Eight of the starters today were away on international duty, so there was a little concern about having them away travelling and losing that connection.
“But in spells in the first half we were strong; we scored three goals, but there were signs we looked a bit disjointed at times and slow to react in some situations.
“Going top of the league, the stadium should have been bouncing, but it was flat in the second half.
“We are disappointed, but in the cold light of day we are top; it’s another three goals; there were more positives than not.
“So it is job done, the crowd were brilliant, but I wish we had added to the goals, but we didn’t have the energy or quality to do that.”
New Czechia international Naderi picked up where he left off in the win over Celtic by nodding the Gers ahead.
Kelsy added a second, with his strike partner making it three just before the interval with an instinctive finish.
Dujon Sterling was replaced at the break, but McInnes insists the defender was under the weather following illness earlier this week.
He added: “With Youssef Chermiti and Lawrence Shankland being out, they are two guys who we thought would have a big season for us.
“To lose that quality, you need a solution. Ryan knew the club after coming in in January, and he has had a good few weeks; he got his international call-up, and he leads the line well.
“Bojan Miovski has chipped in, Kevin scored again today, and Rangers always need goalscorers, which we have.
“Dujon had a hamstring issue after Celtic, but he was ill this week as well. We tried to manage that, but he felt a bit lethargic, and he felt a bit under the weather, so we brought him off.
“I didn’t want to make too many changes as we'd have been doing so well, but maybe I could have changed it earlier to give us more legs, but the lads have done brilliantly to get us to this point.
“We dug deep, we worked hard to go top, and we will recover; some boys will get an extra day off, and we will get the energy back in the team.
“Every team, you have to play with energy, and it wasn’t in the game for us for long spells.”
