Gers head to Hampden with the aim of progressing December’s final, but McInnes knows they will need to stand up to a tough task against Stephen Robinson’s side.
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, he said: “I think for supporters, players, staff and everybody connected with the club, to get the first trophy would be so important.
“Obviously, we had a tough tie to navigate last time round, beating Celtic, and now we’re in a semi-final, it’s important that we turn up.
“Semi-finals, traditionally, can be fraught with a lot of nerves and tension, and sometimes they’re not the best games because of what’s at stake. We can’t just turn up on Saturday hoping to win. We’ve just got to go out and set about a task.
“Obviously, we’ve got 35,000 fans, which is brilliant. It’s something that’s very important to us all, to try and make sure we get to the final but Aberdeen will be equally as determined to get there as well.
“You want to go into these types of games in decent form for confidence, but I think in a semi-final, a standalone game, sometimes form goes out the window.
“We know people might view us as favourites for it and I understand that, but we’ve still got a game to win and Aberdeen are capable of a big performance.
“I’m just concentrating on us. If we get to our level, then hopefully it’s going to be enough to win the game but a strong 90-minute performance is going to be required.”
Reflecting on Wednesday evening’s draw against Hearts, McInnes added: “We’ve got plenty of character and the lads never give up. There’s a real determination and will about them but at times in the game, we have to acknowledge that we weren’t good enough, both technically and physically.
"I’ve both won semi-finals and lost semi-finals. I know the contrast is huge.
“I know what I want for the club and I know what I want for my team so I’m just hoping that we can deliver a big performance.
“I think it’s all right wanting something, but we’ve got to go and make sure we concentrate on the details, do things right and just play the game.
“The fact that we’re in this semi-final stage now, it’s important we try and make the most of it.”
